Will a person be brought to account for whatever crosses his mind of good or evil?

Sometimes a person suffers from thinking of some sin, and other thoughts that come from the whispers of the Shaytaan and the nafs. Will he be requited for whatever crosses his mind, and will it be written in his record, whether it is good or bad?

Praise be to Allah. Al-Bukhaari (6491) and Muslim (131) narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said, relating from his Lord, may He be glorified and exalted: “Allah decreed good deeds and bad deeds, ... Continue Reading

Tucking up the hair at the time of prayer

In fatwa no. 141473 you mentioned in detail that prayer is not valid with the hair tied back. Does this apply to women too? Is it permissible for a woman to pray with her hair tucked up or tied back? I hope that you can give the evidence in detail because some scholars here in Pakistan say that that is not permissible.
Praise be to Allaah. Firstly: In the answers to questions no. 96280 and 163428 we stated that it is makrooh for a man to pray with his hair tucked up, which means that he gathers his hair together and ties it back, thus preventing it from prostrating with him. The prohibition in this case ... Continue Reading

They inherited wealth from their father and invested it in some business; how should they pay zakaah?

We are three sons, three daughters and a mother. We inherited 14,500 Jordanian dinars from our father and we invested this money in some business; every month we get 215 Jordanian dinars. Is any zakaah due on this amount, because this money belongs to everyone?.

Praise be to Allaah. Firstly:  The mother’s share of the estate is one-eighth. The rest is to be divided among the sons and daughters, with each male getting the share of two females. If we realise that the nisaab (minimum threshold) for zakaah is the value of 595 grams of ... Continue Reading

Praise be to Allaah. If this uncertainty come after you have finished doing wudoo’, then do not pay any attention to it. If it happens before you finish, for example, being unsure whether you have wiped over your head and you are washing your feet, then you can wipe over your head and ... Continue Reading

The way in which women pray is the same as the way in which men pray

Would u please tell me the proper way for women to sit, when we pray, also can you please differenciate the sitting position, from men.

Praise be to Allaah.   The way in which women pray is the same as the way in which men pray in every part of the prayer, prostration, sitting, and so on. This is based on the following evidence:  1 – The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Pray as ... Continue Reading

One who lives among people who commit shirk

A man lives within a community that commits shirk (polytheism) by appealing for help from other than Allah. Is he allowed to pray with them with their leading the prayer? Is it obligatory to abandon them? Is their Shirk considered shirk al-akbar (great and serious act of disbelief by associating other beings with Allah's supremacy)? Is alliance with them treated the same as alliance with true non-believers?

If the condition of those with whom you live is as you mentioned, appealing for help from other than Allah, such as appealing for help from the dead and the non-living or the trees or stones or planets and the like, then they are committing the greatest shirk which causes expulsion from ... Sleeping though Fajr Prayer

If a person slept through Fajr prayer, will Allaah reward him for the remainder of the prayers on that day, or not? And if he prays it after he wakes up, will it be accepted from him?

It has been authentically reported from the Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) that he said: «Whoever slept through the prayer, or forgot it, he should pray it when he remembers it; there is no expiation required for it except this.» (Al-Bukhari [597] and Muslim [684]).This covers ...
