Whilst praying the sunnah, the iqaamah is called

If a man was praying the sunnah of the fajr [prayer], or other than it, and whilst doing so the [iqaamah for the obligatory] prayer was called, is he required to [promptly] terminate his prayer in order to join the imaam [and congregation] in [the obligatory] prayer, or should he complete his prayer [first]?

The origin of this issue, lies in his (sal-Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)'s statement:«When the iqaamah for the prayer is called, there is no [other] prayer other than the prescribed [obligatory prayer]» (Muslim [1/493]).So that which is apparent from this hadeeth is the ... Continue Reading

How does one do ghusl (full ablution) to cleans oneself of janaabah (impurity following sexual activity)?

Islam Erases the Sins that Came Before it

A brother of ours has recently become Muslim. During his days of Jaahiliyyah (ignorance – i.e., before he became Muslim), he earned a lot of money by dealing in drugs. He brought this money with him and opened a big bookstore and got married using this money. Recently he has been told that it is not permissible for him to give this money in charity, because Allaah is Good and only accepts that which is good, Our question is, what should he do with this money, and how sound is what he has been told?.

Praise be to Allaah. Firstly:Praise be to Allaah Who has guided him to Islam. We ask Allaah to make him steadfast and to guide him to that which is good for him in this world and in the Hereafter. Secondly:By His grace and mercy, Allaah has caused Islam to destroy the sins that came ... Is the Qur'an for Arabs Only?

A Sikh friend of mine was given some literature to read. While reading it, he raised this objection: “You say that Allah speaks to the prophets and through these special people He sent a universal way of life for all mankind. The question is, why is such an important way of life prescribed in this one particular language [Arabic], which is used only in one particular geographic location? Why could not that Almighty Allah create one universal language for all of mankind so that all people could benefit from that equally? Arabic Qur'an is certainly beneficial for the Arabs only.”

By   Abul A`la Mawdudi / Mushfiqur RahmanHad your Sikh friend who raised this objection pushed his imagination a bit further, he could have also asked “Why did God not send a copy of the Qur'an directly to every human being? Since He is the Almighty, He could have done this ... Continue Reading
