Ruling on making models of the Ka‘bah to explain the rituals of Hajj

Is it haraam to make models of kaba and explain the children the rituals of hajj?

Praise be to Allah. It should be noted that the basic principle concerning acts of worship is that there should be taqwa in the heart and veneration of the symbols and sacred things of Allah, may He be exalted; anything that undermines that veneration of His symbols or turns them into something ... A woman should not travel except with a mahram, even if it is a short trip

I know that a woman is not permitted to travel without a mahram with her. I would like to know what is meant by (traveling) exactly. Where should we start measuring the distance, from the beginning (a place in the desert), or from where?
My father has a farm on Misr-Ismailia way, and he likes us to visit him every so often, this farm is about 75 minutes maximum from home. Is this considered traveling?
Considering that there are many new cities, schools, companies, and farms along the way.

Praise be to Allaah. The saheeh Sunnah indicates that it is not permissible for a woman to travel except with a mahram. This travelling is not defined by a specific distance, as is the case with shortening the prayers or breaking the fast, rather everything that is called travelling, whether ... Continue Reading

She is going to go to Jeddah and she does not have any firm intention to do ‘umrah; from where should she enter ihram if she does decide to do ‘umrah?

I am currently living in Canada for the purpose of study, but my permanent place of residence is between Jeddah and Amman. When I stayed in Amman during the summer break, I decided to go to Jeddah to deal with some official papers, and I intended to do ‘umrah if Allah made that possible for me and if I had a mahram and enough time to do ‘umrah. I intended to do ‘umrah from Jeddah because my mahram would be there. But because I was not certain that I would be able to do ‘umrah, on the day I travelled by plane I did not do ghusl, because I was menstruating and I had not yet decided to do ‘umrah. When I got there on the second day I did ghusl and formed the intention to do ‘umrah from Jeddah, and I did it.
My questions are:
Is my ihram from the miqaat of Jeddah considered valid or not?  Because of my family circumstances, we are always moving back and forth between Jeddah and Amman, and we always enter ihram from our house in Jeddah, even if we are on our way back from a trip to Amman and after staying in Jeddah for several days. We do not remember how many times we have done ‘umrah in this manner.
What is required of us if we should have entered ihram from the miqaat for the people of ash-Shaam (Greater Syria)? After I did ‘umrah I was uncertain as to whether I was completely clean following my period. If I think it most likely that I was still menstruating whilst I was doing ‘umrah, what is the ruling on my ‘umrah and what expiation do I have to offer?.

Praise be to Allah. Firstly:  If a person passes the miqaat intending to do Hajj or ‘umrah, it is not permissible for him to pass it without entering ihram, because of the report narrated by Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah ... Continue Reading

Ruling on making phone apps for some educational projects and selling them

Is it permissible to make phone apps to sell Islamic information? For example, the iPhone mobile phone has a number of apps that are sold via the Apple company, such as the electronic Mushaf, Saheeh al-Bukhaari, Saheeh Muslim, and so on. I would like to make apps like these, that deal with the Qur’an and Prophet’s hadeeths, for the iPhone and iPad, and upload them to the App Store as unique apps.

Praise be to Allah. Striving to spread knowledge and the Qur’an is a great good deed, and making use of modern technology to do that is one of the best and greatest good deeds, if a person does it seeking to please Allah, especially nowadays when followers of whims and desires and the ... His mother died in kufr, can he pray for her?

Can a muslim pray for his non-mulsim mother who has passed away?

Praise be to Allah. Allah says in His Book:{مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَن يَسْتَغْفِرُوا لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَوْ كَانُوا أُولِي قُرْبَىٰ مِن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ}'Translation' {It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe ... Ruling on distributing leaflets and pamphlets that contain Qur’anic verses for da‘wah purposes to non-Muslims

My question is regarding distributing leaflets/pamphlets for dawah purposes that contain Quranic verses. It is likely that many of them will end up on the streets or bins after being distributed. Isnt this wrong and should this discourage us giving out such material? Also, is this ok, considering that the targeted recipients are non-muslims who are impure?

Praise be to Allah. Firstly:  Distributing leaflets and pamphlets for da‘wah purposes is a good deed and is calling people to Allah. It is something from which many people benefit, especially non-Muslims. It is a means of spreading the religion of Allah, establishing proof for ... Continue Reading

He has repented from not praying or giving Zakah, does he have to make them up?

I am from a Muslim background, but I never used to offer the obligatory prayers and even when I tried to pray once, I did not do it right. In other words I did not prepare to do it in the proper manner. I ask Allah to forgive me. I heard that the one who does not pray is a disbeliever and is not a Muslim, but whoever offers the five daily prayers, or one or two of them and omits the rest, is regarded as a Muslim. Also, I did not pay zakah on my wealth, but for at least two years I have completed the fast of Ramadan, and I intend to continue doing so. I want to learn how to pray and make it part of my life, along with other acts of worship.

Is it obligatory for me to pay zakah for all these many years (when I did not pay it), and to make up the days that I did not fast at the time when I was not praying?

Please note that I have now reached the age of thirty-one years; perhaps you will understand that this may cause me a great deal of hardship; to ward off that hardship, can I start over? Will Allah forgive me if I do that?

Praise be to Allah.Firstly: We praise Allah for having blessed you with guidance and enabled you to repent sincerely from the state of shortcomings and negligence you had been in. We ask Allah to complete His blessing upon you and to make you steadfast in adhering to the straight ... Continue Reading

Teaching About the Creator in Simple Terms

How can we help a child to know his Lord?

Praise be to Allah.  A child can be taught about Allah in a suitable manner, according to his level of understanding. He can be told that Allah is One and has no partner. He can be told that He is the Creator of all things, so He is the Creator of the earth, the heavens, people, animals, ... Continue Reading

Description of ‘Umrah

I want to know about ‘Umrah in detail.

Praise be to Allaah.   An act of worship cannot be accepted unless it meets two conditions:  1 – Sincerity towards Allaah alone, i.e., it is done to seek the Countenance of Allaah and the Hereafter, and is not done to show off, to enhance one’s reputation or for ... Continue Reading

They inherited wealth from their father and invested it in some business; how should they pay zakaah?

We are three sons, three daughters and a mother. We inherited 14,500 Jordanian dinars from our father and we invested this money in some business; every month we get 215 Jordanian dinars. Is any zakaah due on this amount, because this money belongs to everyone?.

Praise be to Allaah. Firstly:  The mother’s share of the estate is one-eighth. The rest is to be divided among the sons and daughters, with each male getting the share of two females. If we realise that the nisaab (minimum threshold) for zakaah is the value of 595 grams of ... Continue Reading

Putting one’s trust in Allah and taking measures

There was a discussion about the issue of putting one’s trust in Allah (tawakkul) and taking measures; the trust of some of the righteous is like that of Maryam, to whom summer fruits used to come in the winter and vice versa without her taking any measures; rather she focused completely on worship. Please advise us about that, may Allah bless you.

Praise be to Allaah. Putting one’s trust in Allah involves two things:  (i)                Depending on Allah and believing that He is the One Who causes measures to be effective; His decree comes to ... Continue Reading

Is treating people equally unfairly justice?

There is a saying that treating people equally unfairly is justice; some people attribute this to the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and some regard it as if it is a basic principle that cannot be changed. What is the Islamic ruling or how sound is this saying?.

Praise be to Allaah. The saying that some people say, “treating people equally unfairly is justice” is false and is as far removed from the laws and religion of Allah as the East is from the West. Allah forbid that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be ... Continue Reading
