What is the ruling on paying membership fees to Islamic societies and centres in Western countries?

I want to join an islamic society in europe. This society includes a mosque and dars.
The shura demands a membership fee. Is this halal?

Praise be to Allah. If the situation is as described, there is nothing wrong with paying the fees demanded by the society and this is their right. If the one who pays the fee intends, in addition to benefiting from the activities, that what he pays is to support that society, then he will be ... Continue Reading

Delaying Hajj for no reason

What is the ruling on one who delays Hajj for no reason when he has the means and is able to do it?

Praise be to Allaah and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allaah. Whoever is able to do Hajj and does not do the obligatory Hajj, delaying it for no reason, has committed a great evil and a major sin. What he has to do is to repent to Allaah from that and hasten to do Hajj, because ... Continue Reading

She is complaining about being "ugly".

Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. With a dark complexion, acne prone skin, misaligned teeth, and average height, I consider myself ugly. So does that mean Allah hates me? I have heard taunts about my looks for a long time. I have been through a lot of social pressure because of how I look and remain depressed most of the time. Some have even blatantly expressed their concern over my marriage. Where is my position in Islam regarding all this, since Islam encourages men to marry beautiful women? I cannot thoroughly blame others for their concern, because they are in a way quoting the Quran. But then again where is my fault? I didn’t choose to be ugly. And how does one justify the fact one is rejected socially, rejected for jobs, rejected for marriage proposals, all because one is not good looking enough? Where is Allah’s justice in this when He has created us all equally?.
Praise be to Allaah. Know dear questioner, that all of Allah’s creation is good, but Allah may test a slave with sickness or a defect or ugliness and the like due to a wisdom He is aware of, and a benefit He wished for you to attain. Beauty and ugliness are like sickness and health, wealth ... Continue Reading

She had a tattoo done before she became Muslim. Is she cursed?

Before I converted to Islam, I got tatooed. I have recently read about a tatooed women being a cursed woman. Does this apply to me as well? If I become engaged, should I tell my husband about this before hand, in case he does not want to become engaged to a "cursed woman"?.
Praise be to Allaah.  The Muslim must realize that Islam erases any sins that came before it, and indeed Allaah changes them into good deeds, as He says (interpretation of the meaning): “Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds; for those, ... All questions are worthy of asking

As Salam Wahalakum, Brothers and sisters My question is kind of puzzling but I think it is important My question is: Is a man suppose to shave his legs if his hair grows big like we do to over private parts? I 'm asking this question because most of my friends do it and I didn't because I was never told. So please answer this question and don't leave it as joke. Thank You
Praise be to Allah,We would never consider your question as a joke for the reason that you do what you are supposed to do by asking about something you don’t know its ruling. At the age of our Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) someone, called Abu-Refaa, may Allah be pleased with him, came ... Teaching About the Creator in Simple Terms

How can we help a child to know his Lord?

Is it proven that the righteous wife will have a reward like that of one who fasts and prays qiyaam?

I once read a hadith in an islamic forum but the reference for the hadith was not mentioned. The hadith sounds beautiful but i'll love to confirm it's authenticity before i quote it to anyone. The hadith goes like this, the Prophet(saw) said, " When one of youdoes her best to be a good wife, The reward equals someone who is fasting all day and praying all night." I'll really appreciate your help.

Praise be to Allah.Perhaps you are referring to the report that was narrated by at-Tabaraani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat [6733], and Ibn 'Asaakir in his Tareekh [43/348], via 'Amr ibn Sa'eed al-Khawlaani from Anas ibn Maalik, according to which Salaamah the nurse of ... Continue Reading

Muslim working in law enforcement in a non-Islamic country

I have a question regarding the permissibility of becoming a law enforcement officer in this country that does no follow sharee 'ah. Is it haraam to be enforcing laws that have not been developed by our Creator Allaah and His holy Prophets (upon whom be peace)? Even if it means enforcing laws on non-Muslims?

Partciluarly, is it permissible to enforce a law like punishing someone for speeding on the highway? What about allowing someone to drink alcohol if he is over 21 but not if he is under 21? Even though this is not Islamic, should a Muslim allow such behaviour among non-Muslims? Of course, Muslims will be accountable for these haraam actions in the Hereafter, but is it okay to let non-Muslims do this?

Praise be to Allah. If a Muslim is able, through such work, to fight evil and oppression, or to prevent or reduce it by using the existing laws which may contain something of justice and decency, then it is permissible if his intention is to seek the pleasure of Allah. He may do this work even if it ... Continue Reading

I am looking for an easy way to memorize the Holy Qur’aan.

Praise be to Allah. The way to memorize it is to persist in memorizing it. There are two ways in which people can memorize it: 1. Memorizing it aayah by aayah, or two aayahs by two aayahs, or three by three, depending on how long or short the aayahs are. 2. Memorizing it page by ... Continue Reading
