The Remembrance of the Bearer of Glad Tidings and the Warner صلى الله عليه وسلم - Episode 18: A Spotlight on the Incident of the Slander

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The invasion of Banu Al-Mustaliq that the prophet lead himself started when news were reported to him صلى الله عليه وسلم to the effect that the chief of Bani Al-Mustaliq, Al-Harith bin Dirar had mobilized his men, along with some Arabs, to attack Medina.

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: Mustaliq was the name of the clan's forefather, Juthaimah bin Sa'd from Khuza'ah clan.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: the cause of the invasion was the news that were reported to the prophet concerning the chief of Al-Mustaliq clan, Al-Harith bin Dirar

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Bin Dirar mobilized his people along with some Arabs to fight the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

Sheikh Ali Paqees: Al-Harith incited the Arab tribes nearby his clan to rage war against Medina and the masses mobilized. The prophet wished to verify that news. He immediately dispatched Buraida bin Al-Haseed Al-Aslami. Buraida reached them and had some words with their chief, Al-Harith bin Abi Dirar, who confirmed his intention of war.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم urged his companions to march towards Al-Harith army. Consequently, they rushed to set out.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: Al-Harith sent reconnoiterer to report him the prophet's news and bring him his position; but the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم captured him

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: When Al-Harith bin Dirar was informed of the marching of the prophet ahead of an army, he was very frightened to the extent that caused him to disperse his own army and take shelter in the mountains.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم set out from medina two nights of the month of Sha‘ban, in the 6th year after the immigration, according to what the scholars verified. Some of the hypocrites who joined the prophet's army in this invasion had never joined him before. Zaid bin Harithah was mandated to see to the affairs of Medina. Other scholars mentioned another companion else other than him.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The Messenger of Allah set out and then stopped at one of their watering areas called Al-Muraysee‘in the direction of Qadeed

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: The prophet lined his companion up in rows. Abu Bakr was entrusted with the banner of the Emigrants, and that of the Helpers went to Sa‘d bin ‘Ubada

Sheikh Ali Paqees: Therein the prophet's army confronted Al-Harith and his men.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: Arrow shooting went on for an hour, and then the prophet commanded the army to rush at once and attack their enemy

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: The battle ended in full victory for the Muslims and utter defeat for the polytheists, the enemies of Allah. Some men were killed. The prophet took their women and children as captives, and a lot of booty fell to the lot of the prophet and the Muslims.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: So the full victory was for the prophet; and the polytheists were routed.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Only one man was killed from the Muslims' army. His killer was one of the Helpers. He killed him by mistake as he thought him from the enemies' army.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: If you look for the troubles the Muslims suffered from, you shall find the cause of it none but the hypocrites, those who feigned Islam nonetheless they are polytheists at hearts.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: After the battle, the prophet stayed near the spring of Al-Muraysee'. People would gather around the well to fetch themselves water along with their riding animals.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: and there a dispute aroused between Jahjah Al-Ghaffari from the Emigrants (Muhajirun) and Senan Al-Juhany from the Helpers (Al-Ansar).

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Jahjah competed with Senan Al-Juhany over the water's well; a dispute thus arouse.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The Satan stirred up strife between both men to the extent that they were about to fight one another.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: The man from the Helpers then said "O Ansar, O Helpers, help!"

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The man from the emigrants reacted to his cry "O Emigrants help!"

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: Both parties started gathering at each one's side

Sheikh Ali Paqees: and an evil tremendous fight was about to break out.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Their cries and dispute shouts reached the prophet.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: The prophet held his cloak in his hands and rushed to them. He quickly walked that his cloak fell down.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: " What is this call of Jahiliyyah [pre-Islamic era]; yet you do so while I'm still alive amongst you?" The prophet said to both parties.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: "Quit it; quit it now (this call), it's the most detestable thing"

Sheikh Ali Paqees: and the fire of strife hence was extinguished thereat.

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: 'Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul was informed about what happened at the spring. He was the chief of hypocrites at the time of the prophet.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: Those hypocrites, enemies of Allah, had an evil role in the invasion of Banu Al-Mustaliq

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: 'Abdullah upon hearing this became very angry as he was from Medina, the homeland of the Helpers (Al-Ansar).

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: “Have they [the emigrants] done so? They shared and outnumbered us in our homeland. By Allah, it's true the saying that goes 'fatten your dog and it shall eat you.' By Allah when we return to Medina, surely the more honorable will expel the meanest from it.”

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: He was angry as he claimed that the emigrants insulted the Helpers.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: He scolded his people then blamed them for the humiliation they suffered (as he claims) and urged them not to spend a penny on the prophet and his companions in order that they would disband and leave Medina.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: Zayd bin Al-Arqam, one of the youngest amongst the companions (may Allah be pleased with him) heard this awful horrendous declaration.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: uUpon hearing that, Zayd bin Al-Arqam became very angry and reported the whole speech of 'Abdullah bin Ubai to his uncle.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Consequently his uncle reported the matter to the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. 'Umar was very close to the prophet. He head the whole matter.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: "O prophet of Allah, command 'Abbad bin Beshr to chop off his head," said 'Umar.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: But the prophet refused. Instead he صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Let him be, lest the people say"

Sheikh Ali Paqees: "that Muhammad kills his companions?"

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Afterwards, the prophet thought of heading back to Medina, yet he was very angry صلى الله عليه وسلم

Sheikh Ali Paqees: So the Muslims departed and began their journey back

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: It was a time unusual for the prophet to travel in

Sheikh Ali Paqees: Usaid bin Hudhair, the chief of Al-Aws clan was very surprised at the unusual hour which the prophet ordered to travel in. The prophet said to him, "Didn't you hear what your companion has said?" he told him what 'Abdullah bin Ubai said.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Usaid promptly said, “You, the Messenger of Allah, will expel him from it if you wish. He is the meanest and by Allah, you are the most honorable"

Sheikh Ali Paqees: Then he gently added "O Messenger of Allah"

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: "Be lenient on him, By Allah, Allah the Almighty brought you to us while his people were making the final preparations to crown him."

Sheikh Ali Paqees: "to induct him the king of Medina. O prophet be lenient" the prophet moved on

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: The prophet travelled on for the whole day till night and then for the whole night till the morning came.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: It was very wise of the prophet to resolute to travel at once as so divert people attention from further talking about that evil declaration.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: When the hypocrite 'Abdullah bin Ubai realized that his statement has reached the prophet, he hurried to him صلى الله عليه وسلم delivering excuses.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: He rushed to the prophet; swearing by Allah that he had not said a word against the prophet, accusing Zayd bin Arqam of lying.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: The Helpers who were presented at the prophet, seeing the persistency of 'Abdullah, repeatedly claiming himself innocent, they said "O prophet of Allah, maybe the young lad heard wrong and didn't exactly report what the man said, O prophet of Allah, believe the man"

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: Zayd said, "Upon hearing this, I became distressed. Only Allah knows how distress was I" His uncle told him, "See what you have brought upon yourself. The prophet and the believers disowned you."

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The young lad kept to himself, grieving for being accused of lying by 'Abullah bin Ubai.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: Zayd continued ,"As the prophet lead us in the service of the dawn prayer, he recited:

{هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ لَا تُنْفِقُوا عَلَى مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى يَنْفَضُّوا وَلِلَّهِ خَزَائِنُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ (7) يَقُولُونَ لَئِنْ رَجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ الْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الْأَذَلَّ وَلِلَّهِ الْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَكِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ (8)} . [المنافقون: 7-8]

Interpretation of the meaining: "They are the ones who say Do not spend on those who are with the Apostle of God till they break away (from him). To God belong the treasures of the heavens and the earth; but the hypocrites do not understand. (7) They say: "If we now go back to Medina, the stronger will turn the weaker out." But power belongs to God, His Apostle and the faithful, though the hypocrites do not know. (8)" [Al-Munafiqoon: 7-8]

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: When those verses (from 1-8 of Surat Al-Munafiqoon (hypocrites)) were revealed, the prophet sent for zayd, and ordered to be recited in his presence then said "O Zayd, Allah himself confirmed your witness"

Sheikh Ali Paqees: 'Abdullah bin Ubai's companions then stood against him, and so did his people. Even his son, 'Abdullah bin 'Abdullah bin Ubai barred his father entry to Medina.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: He drew his sword and barred his father entry to Medina "By Allah, I shall not allow your entry unless the prophet permit it, you're the meanest one while the prophet is the most honorable," He said to his father. May Allah be pleased with him. He wasn't afraid of the blame of the blamers for the sake of Allah.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The prophet allowed the entry of bin Ubai and was generous towards him. So far;,the prophet has extinguished the fire of hypocrisy, which was about to destroy the Muslim Community and quelled that strong strife that nearly caused a dispute between his companions

 (bin Ubai bin Salul was well pleased to be a hypocrite. How wrong was his choice to be! Here are the youngsters sincerely embraced Islam and preceded him with the greatest acts while bin Ubai confined himself to hypocrisy and blackened his record with evil and disgrace)

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: After the distribution of the captive women of Banu Al-Mustaliq. Juwayriyah bint Al-Haarith bin Abi Dirar, the daughter of the chief of Bani Al-mustaliq was among the captives. She belonged to the share of Thabit bin Qais.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: Thabit held a manumission with her.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: The manumission is a form of contract that permits the slave to buy himself from his master (to be set free) in return for a price he pays in installments.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The prophet paid her manumission himself صلى الله عليه وسلم and then married her. On the day of their marriage, the companions felt very unease to hold the in-laws of the prophet and the relatives of his wife as captives in their hands.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: Owing to this marriage, the Muslims set one hundred families of Banu Al-Mustaliq free who all have embraced Islam. The companions only said "Oh, They are our prophet's in-laws"

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: One of the extremely painful ordeals that afflicted the prophet greatly was that incident that happened to 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) shortly after that invasion.

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: The slander incident was amongst the greatest ordeals that afflicted the prophet, caused him extreme grief and worry and broke his heart to the extent that he صلى الله عليه وسلم averted 'Aisha for a whole month.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Whenever the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم intended to set out on an invasion, he would draw lots amongst his wives and would take with him the one upon whom the lot fell.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The lot fell upon 'Aisha in this invasion, hence she set out with the prophet.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: As the Prophet returned from the invasion, he had to halt for a night along with his army at a place, a short distance from Medina.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: ‘Aishah (May Allah be pleased her) went out at night, some distance from the camp to attend to the call of nature. When she returned to her howdah, she discovered that her necklace which she borrowed from her sister, was missing. So she went out again looking for it.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: As the prophet ordered the army to proceed, the people who used to carry 'Aisha's howdah came.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: The attendant who was responsible for her howdah though she was already inside it as she was thin and still very young.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Consequently, they put the howdah back on top of the camel and marched along the army, but 'Aisha wasn't inside it, and as she returned with her necklace.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: she (may Allah be pleased with her) realized that they've already departed.

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: "So, I went to the place where I was staying, thinking that they would discover my absence and come back searching for me therein," she said

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Allah has full power and control over all affairs. He regulates every affair from above his throne. While in that state, she felt sleepy and slept (may Allah be pleased with her).

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: She narrates, "Safwaan bin Al-Mu‘attil As-Sulami was behind the army"

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: While she was sleeping, Safwan reached her abode.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: She then awakened by Safwan's voice (may Allah be pleased with him)

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him shall we return, the prophet's wife!"

Sheikh Ali Paqees: For he had seen her before Veil was made incumbent upon women.

 Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: "I got up as I heard him saying "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him shall we return" he did not say a single word to me else it, but made his camel kneel down then he put his leg on the front legs of the camel so that I can mount it and sit over it," she said

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Safwaan; The honest man set out walking, leading the camel by the rope until they reached the army at midday.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) approached the prophet and his army on the camel lead by Safwan bin M'Attil

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: As soon as 'Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul caught the sight of 'Aisha on the camel led by Safwan, he sought to make capital out of this incident and spread a malicious scandal against ‘Aisha and insinuating the prophet into such evils.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: The hypocrites spread their evil fib, each contributing some to the slander.

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: The false scandal vastly spread. The hypocrites made a capital out of it, calumniated 'Aisha before everyone they encountered in Medina till the prophet heard of his beloved wife besmirched and his own reputation defamed. Hence, he was overwhelmed with agony and grief.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: Unfortunately some of the Muslims amongst the prophet's companions became involved in it.

(She was brought up in one of the most pious, faithful and modest homes, then shielded by the prophet, her husband صلى الله عليه وسلم and her father Abu Bakr As-Sideeq (may Allah be pleased with him). She knew no home but the prophet's, never enjoyed one's company but that of the prophet, the best amongst mankind. Hence, how on earth such a fair pure one could commit a flagrant act! Could one reap thorns when he sowed none?)

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: "After that we returned to Medina, and I became ill for a whole month while the people were spreading the forged statements of fibs without me knowing anything about that. Until I recovered from my ailment and went out to answer call of nature," 'Aisha said

Sheikh Ali Paqees: She went out with Um Mistah where we would answer the call of nature. While walking, Um Mistah stumbled because of her long dress and on that she said, “Let Mistah be ruined.”

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: 'Aisha was very surprised. She condemned her companion and reminded her that her son had fought along the prophet side in Uhud Battle, just then the good Um Mistah told her about the evil slander that has been spread behind her back

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: 'Aisha said "Did they circulate those slanders about me?" "Yes. They did" Um Mistah answered. "My sickness was aggravated when I went back home in consequent of those false accusations," 'Aisha said.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: She bitterly wept, wondering how could they circulate such slander about her, the pious one! She knew herself never to commit such obscenity

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم held counsel with two of his Companions concerning this terrible slander, 'Ali and Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them).

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: "O Messenger of Allaah, Allaah has not imposed restrictions on you and there are many women other than her, and if you wish to ask your female servant, she shall tell the truth," 'Ali advised the prophet, and consequently the prophet went to Bareerah and inquired after 'Aisha

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: Bareerah praised 'Aisha vigorously, affirming that she was flawless. She said, "I have never seen in her anything negative except"

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: "except that she is a girl of immature age who sometimes sleeps and leaves the dough out of home and the domestic animals eat it.”

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Yet Usama and others who attended the consultation advised the prophet to keep his wife as they never heard about her but what is good and to not pay attentions to the hypocrites' false accusations.

 Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: Afterwards, the prophet inquired Zainab bint Jahsh about 'Aisha, the former competed with 'Aisha over the prophet's heart. Her manners and prettiness were very close to that of 'Aisha. She replied to the prophet "O Messenger of Allah, I refrain from claiming to have heard or seen what I have not heard or seen. By Allah, I know nothing except goodness about 'Aisha.”

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: The prophet then ascended his pulpit, delivering a speech "Who would exonerate me from imputations of that person who has offended me in regard to my family."

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: "By Allah, I know nothing about my wife but goodness."

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: "And they mentioned a person in this connection who is, according to my knowledge, a thoroughly pious person, and he never got into my house unless with me." Sa'd bin Mu'ath immediately stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I defend your honor against him. If he belongs to the tribe of Al-Aws, we would strike his neck, and if he belongs to the tribe of our brothers Al-Khazraj, order us and we shall comply with your order."

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: As the speech spread amongst the companions, one of the chiefs of Al-Aws, Usaid bin Hudhair wanted to kill that hypocrite, But Sa'd bin 'Ubadah, chief of Al-Khazraj from whom bin Ubai belongs, motivated by tribal partisanship, he attacked Usaid and Sa'd of Al-Aws verbally and a fight erupted between both tribes, but the prophet calmed them both down.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The prophet went to see 'Aisha صلى الله عليه وسلم

Sheikh Abdullateaf Al-Ghamdi: He visited her at her parents' home. She was still sick, lying on her bed. He praised his Lord and then said "O 'Aisha"

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: "I was informed of such-and-such about you; If you are innocent, then Allah will soon reveal your innocence"

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: "and if you committed a sin, then repent to Allah and ask Him to forgive you, for when a person confesses his sin and asks Allah for forgiveness, Allah accepts his repentance.”

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: As soon as the prophet uttered those words, my tears ceased completely and I could not feel a single drop spilled from my eyes

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: I asked my parents to answer the Messenger of Allah on my behalf, but they both didn't know how to answer him, or what to say

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: 'Aisha said "So I decided to talk myself"

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: “I know, by Allah, that you have listened to what people are saying until it has been planted in your mind, and you have believed it to be the truth. Now, if I tell you that I am innocent and Allah knows that I am innocent, you would not believe me, and if I confessed to you falsely that I am guilty, and Allah knows that I am innocent, you would believe me."

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: "I find no words to say except the words of the father of Yusuf (Joseph) "So patience is most fitting. And Allah is the One sought for help against that which you describe"

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: Then I turned over to the other side of my bed, By Allah, the Messenger of Allah had not got up and nobody had left the house before the revelation came to him"

Sheikh Khaled al-Khalawy: "By Allah, I never thought that Allah would reveal some of the Quran with regard to my case as I considered myself too inferior to be mentioned in the Quran. I only hoped that the Messenger of Allah would have a dream in which Allah would confirm my innocence," 'Aisha said.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: The prophet laid on his mantle as 'Aisha put a pillow beneath his head "I wasn't afraid or terrified. I was sure of my innocence, and I firmly believed that Allah won't be unjust to me, yet my parents were very terrified. By Allah whom my life is in his hands, I thought they'd expel their last breath the moment the revelation is over. When this state was over, he was smiling and the first thing he said was: “O ‘Aisha, Allah has declared your innocence.” Her mother got very happy that she told 'Aisha to go to the prophet, but 'Aisha refused, believing in her innocence ever since, and testing the prophet's love for her "“By Allah I will not go to him and will not thank him but Allah” and Allah has revealed the verses:

{إِنَّ الَّذِينَ جَاءُوا بِالْإِفْكِ عُصْبَةٌ مِنْكُمْ لَا تَحْسَبُوهُ شَرًّا لَكُمْ بَلْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ مَا اكْتَسَبَ مِنَ الْإِثْمِ وَالَّذِي تَوَلَّى كِبْرَهُ مِنْهُمْ لَهُ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ (11) لَوْلَا إِذْ سَمِعْتُمُوهُ ظَنَّ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُ بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ خَيْرًا وَقَالُوا هَذَا إِفْكٌ مُبِينٌ (12) لَوْلَا جَاءُوا عَلَيْهِ بِأَرْبَعَةِ شُهَدَاءَ فَإِذْ لَمْ يَأْتُوا بِالشُّهَدَاءِ فَأُولَئِكَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ هُمُ الْكَاذِبُونَ (13) وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِي مَا أَفَضْتُمْ فِيهِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ (14) إِذْ تَلَقَّوْنَهُ بِأَلْسِنَتِكُمْ وَتَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَاهِكُمْ مَا لَيْسَ لَكُمْ بِهِ عِلْمٌ وَتَحْسَبُونَهُ هَيِّنًا وَهُوَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَظِيمٌ (15) وَلَوْلَا إِذْ سَمِعْتُمُوهُ قُلْتُمْ مَا يَكُونُ لَنَا أَنْ نَتَكَلَّمَ بِهَذَا سُبْحَانَكَ هَذَا بُهْتَانٌ عَظِيمٌ (16) يَعِظُكُمُ اللَّهُ أَنْ تَعُودُوا لِمِثْلِهِ أَبَدًا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ (17) وَيُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمُ الْآيَاتِ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ (18) إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَ أَنْ تَشِيعَ الْفَاحِشَةُ فِي الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ (19) وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ (20)} [ النور: 11-20]

 Interpretation of the meaning: "Indeed, those who came with falsehood are a group among you. Do not think it bad for you; rather it is good for you. For every person among them is what [punishment] he has earned from the sin, and he who took upon himself the greater portion thereof - for him is a great punishment. Why, when you heard it, did not the believing men and believing women think good of one another and say, “This is an obvious falsehood”? Why did they [who slandered] not produce for it four witnesses? And when they do not produce the witnesses, then it is they, in the sight of Allah, who are the liars. And if it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy in this world and the Hereafter, you would have been touched for that [lie] in which you were involved by a great punishment. When you received it with your tongues and said with your mouths that of which you had no knowledge and thought it was insignificant while it was, in the sight of Allah, tremendous. And why, when you heard it, did you not say, “It is not for us to speak of this. Exalted are You, [O Allah]; this is a great slander?” Allah warns you against returning to the likes of this [conduct], ever, if you should be believers. And Allah makes clear to you the verses, and Allah is Knowing and Wise. Indeed, those who like that immorality should be spread [or publicized] among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you do not know. and if it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy. And because Allah is kind and merciful." [An-noor: 11-20]

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The painful incident came to its end and the companions learnt great lessons out of it.

Sheikh Zaid al-Qoroon: The evil calumny of the chief of hypocrites was exposed. He could never raise his head ever again as to those whom contributed to the slander. They supplicated Allah for forgiveness, immensely regretting their acts. Hassan bin Thabit who was one of them, terribly regretted his erroneous deed, and he dedicated great verses of poetry to 'Aisha, praising her chastity and piousness."

 (A chaste pious woman who arouses no suspicion

She never talks against chaste heedless women behind their backs.

The wife of the best amongst men in both faith and status

The prophet of guidance whose virtues and goodness are countless

She belongs to a clan descends from Lu'ai bin Ghalib

Honored people whose glory never fades

A good, polite young lady;

Whom Allah purified from all evils and wrongs)
