The Remembrance of the Bearer of Glad Tidings and the Warner صلى الله عليه وسلم - Episode 16: A Spotlight on the Way to the Battle of the Trench

Since 2017-11-18

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: After prophet peace be upon  him banished Bani Nadir Jews to Khaiber and Allah glory be to him blessed Muslims  with the dominance of the region, the Jews started to plot against Muslims to weaken them.

Sheikh Alareefy: They haven’t stopped their plotting. They would cause problems to Muslims every now and then.

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: They began to plot against the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم bringing more than 20 of their leaders and chiefs.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: They headed for Mecca and Ghatafan breaking out the war against the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: They met Quraish's noblemen citing them to wage war on the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: They pledged to support them against the prophet.

Sheikh AlAreefy: The evidence is that Quraish showed enthusiasm and the jews get out after urging Quraish.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: Those Jews have headed for Gatafan citing them to take the boons of Medina.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Tribes of Gatafan have been gathered responding to the call.

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: Thus, they continued moving between Arab tribes

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: A number of tribes has responded to this delegation

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: They gathered more than ten thousand fighters who do not believe in Allah and the Last day.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Thus, the Jews' leaders and chiefs had cited the disbelievers groups against the prophet and the Muslims.

(This delegation was a bad omen to Quraish and its supporters as they took them to Medina in order to eradicate the truthful Muslims, however, it was an evil portent journey for those disbelievers who came back with nothing but failure)

Sheikh Ali Paqees: Mecca as a whole has gone out with its enormous army

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: They were led by Abu Sufian Ibn Harab and were about four thousand fighters.

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: Their hearts were separated except for waging war on the messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم. They agreed upon the time and the place of meeting to kill the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, thus they rushed out from everywhere heading to the city of the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Actually after three days an enormous army of about ten thousand fighters have been gathered around Medina.

Sheikh AlAreefy: The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in Medina was completely aware of what is going on as it was from the time the Jews got out from Khaiber he was told of that.

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: He صلى الله عليه وسلم was vigilant, cautious, courteous and discerning. He had sent his eyes who came with the news. Those are the enemies of Allah who were gathered to fight the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Sheikh AlAreefy: The prophet gathered  his companions.

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: He told them the news.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: He began to hear their opinions.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: He consulted them about waging war on Quraish Salman Alfaresi (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O messenger of Allah,"

Sheikh AlAreefy: "when in Persia and attacked by the enemy, we dig a trench to separate between us.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: The prophet showed his admiration to the idea.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: It was a good idea that was not known before to the Arabs.

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: They were not familiar with trenches as Medina was surrounded by stones, trees and palms everywhere except in the north.

Sheikh AlAreefy: The prophet ordered his companions to dig the trench.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: The prophet immediately carried out this great idea. He entrusted to each ten of his companions to dig  2000 centimeters of the trench.

Sheikh AlAreefy: They started working while the disbelievers are coming to Medina knowing nothing about the Muslim's plan.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Muslims continued working in the trench all the day to return homes at night.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: It was a very cold weather with a very much hunger and the companions were having little food.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGamdi: Getting out of the trench, the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم found (Almuhajereen and Alansaar) digging in a cold weather.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: They had no servants or slaves to help them carrying the dust to dig the trench.

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: The propet, seeing them hungry, tired and feeling cold, said to relieve them:

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: "O Allah! The best life is that in the Hereafter."

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: "O Allah! forgive the supporters of the prophet and the migrants."

Sheikh AlAreefy: "We are the supporters who pledged Muhammed on strive as long as we live [O Allah forgive the supporters of the prophet and the migrants]," they replied.

Sheikh AlAreefy: The prophet started to dig the trench with them.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: It was narrated that AlBraa ibn Azeb said, "I saw the messenger of Allah transferring the dust of the trench,"

Sheikh Ali Paqees: "until his skin was completely covered with dust."

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: They reiterated what Abdullah ibn Rawaha (may Allah be pleased with him )says,

Sheikh AlAreefy: "By Allah, had there not been Allah, we wouldn't have been guided to the right path,"

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: "nor would have prayed nor have given charity to the poor,"

Sheikh Abdullateaf  AlGamdi: "O Allah! send down your calmness and tranquility upon us,"

Sheikh AlAreefy: "and make our foothold firm when we fight,"

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon : "they have oppressed us,"

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "when they make sedition, we challenge them."

Sheikh Alareefy: The prophet kept saying, "We challenge, challenge" to encourage them.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: The prophet's companions who were digging the trench were feeling very hungry

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: In this battle, they suffered great hunger, thirst, and fear.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Despite being exhausted, they were digging, enduring and facing the enemy by the enclosure of Medina.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: The greatest sufferance was the very much hunger which was about to tear their intestines. The prophet was the most influenced one.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Abu Talha, describing the state of hunger suffered by the prophet's companions, said,

Sheikh Ali Paqees: "We were putting a stone on our stomachs out of hunger."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "Looking at the prophet, they found him putting one stone and two stones out of hunger."

Sheikh Ali Paqees: It was an evidence that the prophet's sufferance was twice more than his companions (may  Allah be pleased with them).

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Despite being hungry, the prophet was a blessed man with signs of prophecy and authenticity which appeared in that situation.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: Jabir bin Abdullah was looking at the prophet suffering hungry.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: He slaughtered goat for him.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: His wife had grinded  a measure of barley.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: He secretly whispered to the prophet in his ear.

Sheikh Ali Paqees: He offered to host the prophet and some of his companions

Sheikh Ali Paqees: without telling the rest of his companions because of the few amount of food

Sheikh Alareefy: The sudden was that the prophet shouted at the people of trench saying, "Jabir is inviting you to eat."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "How strange is it!"

Sheikh Alareefy: "So people left their works and came."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم took them to Jabir's house (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sheikh Alareefy: The prophet arrived before his companions, took the permission to enter and was permitted. He صلى الله عليه وسلم reached to the pot, raised the cover and asked Allah to bless it.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: They eat until  they became full.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: The pot of meat was still full as it was.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: and bread was still being baked.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: When the prophet asked Allah to bless this food, it was increased to the extent that they came back to find baking as it was.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: It was narrated in Albukhary that Jabir bin  Abdullah said,

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "O Messenger of Allah! We were intercepted by a solid piece of ground."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "A very big stone which cannot be broken by axes. They told the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Sheikh Alareefy: The prophet said, "I will descend."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: He himself descended, took the axe and said, "In the name of Allah." He hit the stone.

Sheikh Alareefy: Hitting the stone with the iron caused a slight spark.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: He then said to his companions,

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "Allah is Great; Allah is Great. I was given the keys of Levant."

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: "By Allah I am looking to palaces of Alhamra.

Sheikh Alareefy: Hitting for the second time, he said, "By Allah I was given the keys of Persia."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "By Allah I m looking to the palace of Madaen." Now for the third time, he hits saying, "In the name of Allah."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: He broke the rest of the stone into pieces and then said,

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: "Allah is Great, I was given the keys of Yemen."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "By Allah I am looking to the gates of Sana'a."

(Amid this besiege and distress the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم gave them the glad-tidings with the great victory. It is a victory greater than that upon the immediate enemy. Stop O Wiseman at this wise lesson: a believing  muslim should not be diverted by a near affliction to a fat victory.

Sheikh Alareefy: As for the hypocrites, they said to each other,

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "Muhamed is promising us to have treasures of Kissra and Caesar while we cannot safely go to stool."

Sheikh Alareefy: "Allah and his Messenger promised us nothing but delusion."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: Others said, "Our homes lie open to the enemy so let us get out to Medina. Telling about those hypocrites, Allah says,

Interpretation of the meaining: "When the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a disease of doubts said: Allah and his Messenger promised us nothing but delusion." [Al-Ahzab: 12]

Sheikh Alareefy: Sister of Alnoman bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with her) came with a handful of dried dates

Sheikh Ali paqees: to her father and her uncle. The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم called her and took the dates.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: He spread a black garnment and put the dates on it.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: He called all people of the trench.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: They started to eat from the dates.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: The dates became increasing to the extent that that people of the trench had left them.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: The dates were falling from the garment.

Sheikh Ali paqees: The parties had reached Medina.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Quraish arrived with about 4000 men heading to Alasial north west of Medina. Ghatafan and other parties of Najd came with about 6000 fighters heading to the north east of Medina beside Uhud

Sheikh Alareefy: The disbelieving army arrived to Medina being surprised by the trench.

Sheikh Ali paqees: They were surprised seeing the trench built by the prophet and digged by his companions. They were not aware of that plan in war before so they stood outside it.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم got out with about 3000 Muslims. They took Sala Mountain as fortress to refuge and the trench was between them and the disbelievers. Their slogan was (ha meem, they will not be helped)

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "Allah's enemy was seeking a hole to get in from the trench to the city of the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: They tried to enter but failed so they besieged muslims up to 15 days during which they were circling around the trench.

Sheikh Ali paqees: A few fighters of the disbelievers could hardly penetrate the trench.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Among them was Amr bin wud, Ikrema bin Abi Jahl, Dhirar bin AlKHatab and others.

Sheikh Ali paqees: They looked at a narrow place in the trench and then passed it.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: Ali may Allah be pleased with him, set out along few numbers of Muslims.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: He called Amr bin Wud to a sword play.

Sheikh Alareefy: He said, "Who can challenge me in a sword play?"

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Ali may Allah be pleased with him, advanced to challenge him.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: They faced each other for few moments.

Sheikh Ali paqees: They fought each other as the dust roused, the youngman with his firm beliving was able to kill the disbelieving tyrant.

Sheikh Alareefy: Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, hit Amr bin Wud strongly between his armor and his helmet  which caused his head to fall.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: The disbelievers had been disappointed to see their leader killed. They broke into the trench escaping with their horses. They were scared to the extent that Ikrema bin Abi Jahl, one of Quraish's leaders left his sword being overcome with Amr bin Wud who was killed by Ali bin Abi Talib.

Interpretation of the meaining: "When the believers saw the confederates they said, 'this is what Allah and his messenger had promised us. Allah and his messenger had spoken the truth and it only added to their faith and to their submissiveness." [Al-Ahzab: 22]

Sheikh Ali paqees: The prophet's companions were standing on the other side of the trench to guard it and to prevent the disbelievers from  filling it up with earth.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Because of being preoccupied with combating disbelievers and waiting for enemies, the prophet and his companions had missed some prayers. They did not pray them at time.

Sheikh Ali paqees: Omar entered where the prophet was and swore the disbelievers.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: He said, "O messenger no sooner had I prayed than it was about to set."

Sheikh Ali paqees: The prophet said, "As for me, I have not prayed it yet. "He headed to Batahan Valley where he prayed the afternoon prayer after the sunset. He then prayed Maghreb and invocated Allah to perish the disbelievers.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "May Allah fill their houses and tombs with fire as they diverted us on the middle prayer (the afternoon prayer ) till the sun set.

Sheikh Ali paqees: This shows the great rank of prayer even in battles.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: Among the Muslims was Saad bin Muaz, who had been Injured in the battles between Muslims ad disbelievers.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: A disbeliever man called Hayan ibn Alarafa found Saad ibn Muaz overlooking among his companions, he took an arrow from the quiver and shot it toward Saad.

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: He cut his ankle.

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: Being injured and afraid to be killed without cambating Allah's enemies, Saad raised his hand praying to Allah (Glory be to him) saying,

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: "O Allah! You know that no one is better to be fought for your sake than people who belied Allah's Messenger and drove him out."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "Had there been time to fight against Quarish, O Allah grant me life to kill them for your sake."

Sheikh Zaid AlQuroon: "O Allah! had the war been finished, grant me martyrdom."

Sheikh Abdullateaf AlGhamdi: "O Allah do not take my life without giving me a comfort of eye from Bani Quraiza."
