The Reward of Fasters According to the Words of the Messengers' Master

We thank God who made fasting Ramadan compulsory, opened to us the doors of heaven during it and locked the doors of hell. Prayers and peace be upon our chosen prophet and his family and company till the Day of Judgment.

And so...

Here are some of the sound ‘hadith’ about the reward of fasting in general, the reward of fasting Ramadan and its night prayer and the righteous deeds in it. May our exalted God make us of His manumitted in that glorious month, to forgive and have mercy upon us and include us with His generosity.

The Reward of Fasting:

Our exalted God said: “…the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.” [Al Ahzab 33:35]

{وَالصَّائِمِينَ وَالصَّائِمَاتِ وَالْحَافِظِينَ فُرُوجَهُمْ وَالْحَافِظَاتِ وَالذَّاكِرِينَ اللَّهَ كَثِيراً وَالذَّاكِرَاتِ أَعَدَّ اللَّهُ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةً وَأَجْراً عَظِيماً}

Transliteration: Wa Aş-Şā'imīna Wa Aş-Şā'imāti Wa Al-Ĥāfižīna Furūjahum Wa Al-Ĥāfižāti Wa Adh-Dhākirīna Allāha Kathīrāan Wa Adh-Dhākirāti 'Aadda Allāhu Lahum Maghfiratan Wa 'Ajrāan Ažīmāan

And also said; “[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past.” [AL Haqqa: 24]

{كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئاً بِمَا أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِي الْأَيَّامِ الْخَالِيَةِ}

Transliteration: Kulū Wa Ashrabū Hanī'āan Bimā 'Aslaftum Fī Al-'Ayyāmi Al-Khāliyati

Waqeea and others said; those are the days of fasting when they had forsaken food and drinks.

Aby Huraira said that: Allah’s messenger -peace and prayers be upon him-said: “every deed one does is for him except fasting that is for me and I reward for it.” Fasting is a shield, if it is the day one of you is fasting he shouldn’t be obscene or noisy .IF any one insulted him, he shall say: ‘I am fasting’. "I swear by That Being in whose possession is the life of Muhammad! The mouth's odor of a fasting person is more preferable to Allah the exalted than the fragrance of musk. Fasting person has two joys; when he has his breakfast he will satisfy his hanger and when he meets His God he will be happy that he performed fasting” [Declared authentic by Al-Albani]

In another narration he said, “Every deed one does is rewarded form ten times till seven hundred times and as much Allah wants. Allah says fasting is an exception; it is for me and I reward for it myself the one who forsakes his desires and food for me. Fasting person has two joys when he has his breakfast he will satisfy his hanger and when he meets His God he will be happy that he performed fasting” [Declared authentic by Al-Albani]

Muhammad -peace be upon him- said: "Fasting is a shield." Meaning that it keeps the fasting one from committing sins and misdeeds which lead to burning in hell.
And he said: (la rafath) which is the obscene and vulgar of language.
And also, (khalof) which is the mouth's odor of a fasting person
Fasting is unique among all kinds of worship rituals.

Abi Umama (may Allah be pleased with him) “said: messenger of Allah, give me an order to carry out. He said you should fast; it uniquely precious.” [Narrated by Elwade'e and Al-Albany supported its reference]

Abd Alluh bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Fasting and the Qu'ran will intercede on behalf of one on the judgment Day. The Fast will proclaim: 'O Allah! I prevented him from eating and carnal desire in the day time. Therefore; let my intercession be accepted on his behalf.' The Qu'ran will proclaim: 'I prevented him from sleeping. Therefore, let my intercession be accepted on his behalf.' The intercession of both will be accepted." [Declared Hasan by Al-Albany]

Fasting is a cause for going to Heaven:

Hozayfa- Allah be pleased with him- said, I leaned the prophet’s head-peace and prayers be upon him- to my chest and he said, “who said there is no God but Allah as the last act in his life, he goes to Heaven. Who fasted one day for the sake of Allah’s satisfaction as the last act in his life he goes to Heaven. And who paid alms for the sake of Allah’s satisfaction as his last act in life, he goes to Heaven.” [Declared authentic by Al-Albany]

The reward of fasting…the gate of Rayan

Sahl Ibn Saad said, The Prophet said, "There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fast will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, 'Where are those who used to observe fast?' They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be locked and nobody will enter through it." [Declared authentic by Al-Albany]

Al Seddik and enthusiasm

Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever gives away two kinds (of things or property) in charity for Allah's Cause, will be called from the gates of Paradise and will be addressed, 'O slave of Allah! Here is prosperity.' So, whoever was amongst the people who used to offer their prayers, will be called from the gate of the prayer; and whoever was amongst the people who used to participate in Jihad, will be called from the gate of Jihad; and whoever was amongst those who used to observe fast, will be called from the gate of Ar-Raiyan; whoever was amongst those who used to give in charity, will be called from the gate of charity." Abu Bakr said, " O Allah's Apostle who is more far more precious that my parents, No distress or need will befall him who will be called from those gates. Will there be any one who will be called from all these gates?" The Prophet replied, "Yes, and I hope you will be one of those." [Narrated by Bukhari]

Fasting as a treatment for desires:

Ibn Masod said may God be pleased with him, our prophet-peace and payers be upon him- said: "you young men! He who can afford to get married should do so, because it will help him refrain from looking at other women, and keep his private parts from committing adultery; and he who cannot afford to marry is advised to fast, as fasting will diminish his sexual power." [Narrated by Muslim & Ahmed and declared authentic by Al-Albany]

Fasting as Expiation:

Hozayfa bin El yaman said: “The affliction of a person in his property, family and neighbors is expiated by his prayers, fasting, and giving in alms.” [Narrated by Bukhari]

The reward of that who fasted Ramadan out of faith and belief:

1- Accomplishment of righteousness: Allah says; “O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqûn” [Al Baqarah: 183]

{يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ}

4- Highness of Rewards: Amr Mara El Gahny may Allah be pleased with him said that: "a man from Kada'a came to the prophet peace and prayers be upon him and said " O Messenger of God! What if I bore witness that there is God but Allah , and you are His messenger , performed the five prayers , fasted Ramadan, performed prayers in its nights , and gave zakat ??, then the prophet –peace and prayers be upon him said : who were these his final acts in life , would counted among believers and martyrs." [Al-Albany approved its reference]

Warning

Ka'ab Bin Agza said: the prophet –peace and prayers upon him –said: "bring the stand, so we did. When he ascended a step, he said: Amen and did the same when he ascended the second and the third steps. When he came down we said: O messenger of God, we have heard of you today something we have never heard of before? He said: Gabriel has shown up to me and said: who can ever witness Ramadan and do not attain forgiveness, I said: Amen. When I went up the second step, he said who can hear your name being mentioned and do not pray upon you, I said: Amen. When I went up the third step, he said: who can a senior parent or both of them and they do not cause him to go to heaven, I said: Amen." [approved by Al-Albany]
