{O you who believe! Ward off yourselves and your families against a Fire (Hell)...}

Dear kind brother, Allah Almighty says: {O you who believe! Ward off yourselves and your families against a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allâh, but do that which they are commanded} [Surat At-Tahrim 66:6]

Transliteration: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo qoo anfusakum waahleekum naran waqooduha alnnasu waalhijaratu AAalayha malaikatun ghilathun shidadun la yaAAsoona Allaha ma amarahum wayafAAaloona ma yumaroona

And the Prophet (prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) says: “Every one of you is a shepherd and each one of you is responsible of his subjects.” [Reported by Al-Bukhari]

«كلكم راع وكلكم مسؤول عن رعيته« رواه البخاري

All of these texts make it obligatory for you to keep your house away from loss by good upbringing, wise guidance and keeping the house away from the causes of affliction and disease, and here are pieces of advice in this concern:

1- Establish your house upon fearing Allah: Indeed, fearing Allah is the most important thing and the key reason for protecting your house from the evils, moreover; it is the guidance to every good act. Allah Almighty says: {And whosoever fears Allâh and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). (2) And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine} [Surat At-Talaq 65:2-3]

Transliteration: waman yattaqi Allaha yajAAal lahu makhrajan (2) Wayarzuqhu min haythu la yahtasibu

Therefore; if you feared Allah in your dealings with your household, He will protect you from whatever may hurt you or your household. The Messenger of Allah (prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) says: “Guard (the rights of) Allah and He will Guard you.” [Authenticated by Al-Albani]

2- Always provide advice and guidance to your household: Never neglect its affairs and matters even if you are very busy, because your responsibility toward your house has priority greater than the priority of enlarging business and trade. The Prophet (prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) says: “Every one of you is a shepherd and each one of you is responsible of his subjects.” [Reported by Al-Bukhari]

Always advice your children … Ask; who are their friends? … Where do they go? … What do they care for? If you found them do good, you should encourage them. On the other hand; if they were misbehaving, correct their behaviors by kindness and guidance then by punishment, if it were necessary.

3- Protect your house from the means of evil: Do not allow the presence of anything that brings Allah’s wrath; such as singing, obscene TV channels, dissolute magazines and all other things that the scholars declared their prohibition. Know that you will be answerable before Allah about such things, and your dissatisfaction by the heart is not enough; rather you must be sturdy in preventing your children from using such means inside and outside the house.

4- Monitor the prayers in your house: The Messenger of Allah (prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) says: “Teach your children to perform the prayer at (the age of) seven, and beat them (for not performing it) at ten.” [Declared Good by Al-Albani]

This is the behavior of every believer that acknowledges the value of prayer, it is a restrainer prevents committing the evil deeds and what is prohibited by the Islamic law. Therefore, whoever brings up his children at observing the prayers have given them the key for every good thing.

5- Be kind with your household: gently talk and look at them, be beneficial to them and deal with them in clarity, cordiality and sincerity, because cordiality between the couples is one of the greatest reasons of happiness in the houses and one of the greatest factors of the psychological health for the children. The Messenger of Allah (prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) says: “The best one among you is the best one to his household, and I am the best one among you to his household.” [Authenticated by Al-Albani]
