One Step Closer - Forgiveness

Since 2012-12-05

1- Something we need today, a very powerful characteristic in the Muslim personality, despite its softness it has ultimate power and can give us so much strength in seeking the pleasure of Allah, and handling the affairs of this Ummah.

2- It is one of the most important Islamic principles that is so profound, we cannot survive without it life will be unbearable, we should overlook people’s mistakes and live in an ocean of forgiveness because this will bring happiness to our society.

3- Forgiveness is ascribed to Allah (Subhanhu Wa Ta'ala), it is something that He loves, so it is an act of worship, Allah is The One who forgives people’s mistakes and gives them more chances to be His obedient servants. And in Qur’an Allah addresses the believers as people who forgive one another, they can take their rights from people to be equal but they choose to take the reward from Allah which is far greater.

4- The prophet (peace be upon him) is our role-model in forgiveness, he always chose to forgive people though he had the power to take revenge, like when he conquered Mecca, he forgave those who wronged him, a very high level of forgiveness. But we should know that is not forgiveness if you say I forgive people just because you are unable to take your right, we should forgive people when we have the ability and the power to take revenge, and the prophet (peace be upon him) made it clear for us that this forgiveness is not a sign weakness it brings honor, dignity, and reward from Allah (Subhanhu Wa Ta'ala) who will take care of your affairs.

5- We can attain forgiveness by having knowledge about Allah, His Names and Attributes, knowing that He is The Forgiver, and as Allah pardons us, we should pardon His creation, because Allah loves to see us acting to His servants as He acts towards us.

And we should put in mind that we Muslims should always live is a state of balance, so we should know when forgiveness should be done, it should be done in its right place, and by being patient, having mercy, and being forgiving to one another, we can achieve a high level in paradise and Insha’Allah we can all get one step closer to Allah (Subhanhu Wa Ta'ala).
