In the following lines, we will touch upon just some quick points concerning the protective jealousy towards the womenfolk and honors.
All perfect praise is due to Allah The Almighty alone. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the one whom there is no prophet after him; Prophet Muhammad.
In the following lines, we will touch upon just some quick points concerning the protective jealousy towards the womenfolk and honors. We ask Allah The Almighty to render them beneficial.
Virtues of having protective jealousy
1- Having protective jealousy towards one’s womenfolk and honor is one of the noble manners about which the Prophet, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “I have been sent just to perfect the noble manners.” [Al-Albani deemed it Authentic]
«إنما بعثت لأتمم مكارم الأخلاق» صححه الألباني
2- Having protective jealousy is one of the attributes that Allah The Almighty loves as the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “There is a kind of jealousy which Allah loves.” [Reported by Ahmad, Abu Dawud and Al-Albani deemed it Hasan]
«إن من الغيرة ما يحب الله» رواه أحمد وأبو داود، حسنه الألباني
3- Protective jealousy increases love between both spouses only if it doesn’t exceed the proper bounds nor reach the limits of suspicion.
4- Protective jealousy of men concerning their womenfolk makes women stick to the proper prescribed Hijab and perfect modesty and decency.
5- Protective jealousy leads to disseminating chastity between men and women.
6- Protective jealousy guards against the gazes and ambitions of the evil people and rebels the plot of the plotters.
7- Protective jealousy prevents immoralities and shameful sins to spread.
8- Protective jealousy makes woman feel that she has a great value in the eyes of her husband, father, or brother.
9- Protective jealousy prevents meeting in seclusion and intermixing between men and women.
10-Protective jealousy leads to and encourages early marriage that helps young men and women remain chaste.
11-Protective jealousy drives man to fulfill his duty towards his wife and daughters and never let that duty to the foreign and non-Mahram drivers.
12-Protective jealousy drives woman to fulfill her duty towards her husband and daughters and never let that duty to the housemaids.
Forms of neglecting protective jealousy
1- Watching satellite channels and its immoral scenes, so the man will enjoy watching the scenes of the beautiful women and the woman will also enjoy watching the scenes of men and thus protective jealousy between them will be lost.
2- Some men allow their women, daughters or sisters to travel alone without a Mahram (individual of a prohibited degree of kinship).
3- Some men allow their women to go to the places that have intermixing between the two genders alone although they are exposed to be harmed by sinful gazes and the like.
4- Prohibited intermixing between women and foreign men, such as the drivers, salesmen, private teachers and the like.
5- Letting a woman wear whatever she likes of the obscene and see-thru clothing that uncover and describe some parts of her body.
6- Meeting in seclusion and intermixing in some families between men and women of the young men and young women of the paternal and maternal uncles and aunts, and between the woman and the brother of her husband.
7- Allowing women to engage in some jobs that do not befit her nature and thus exposes her to Fitnah (temptation) and immoral acts.
8- Listening to the songs that are full of the words of love and affection.
9- Correspondence between the two genders through mail and email.
10-Letting young women go to whomever of their friends although some young men may exist in such houses.
11-Letting young women have private phone numbers with which she can call and talk to whomever they want without any control of their families.
12-Some men talk about the private matters of their wives with their friends and some women describe the shapes, clothes and attributes of their friends to their husbands.
Reasons of the weakness of the protective jealousy
1- Weakness and lack of the spiritual awareness and religious commitment.
2- Weakness of the personality of men.
3- Taking the teachings of the religion of Islam lightly.
4- Ignorance.
5- Referring to the traditions and customs, not to the rulings of Islam.
6- The pressures of society and submitting to the current situations.
7- Following the developments of the modern age and being tempted with the western civilization.
8- Taking the matter of educating children lightly.
9- Excess of confidence and good expectations.
10-Too much contact with the foreign women in work and the like, thus after some time elapses, one will get used to that and sees no harm it.
Solution
1- Knowing that having weak protective of jealousy is a great sin and thus entails repentance and regret.
2- Referring to the rulings of Islam, and not to traditions nor customs.
3- Adhering firmly to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, in all matters.
4- Knowing that having weak protective jealously is an attribute of the most contemptible individual and animal.
5- Knowing that protective jealousy does not contradict in any way with having trust in man or woman.
6- Not taking the rulings of religion lightly, Allah The Almighty says: {Hold fast to that which We have given you} [Al-Baqarah 2: 63].
{خُذُوا مَا آتَيْنَاكُمْ بِقُوَّةٍ} البقرة: 63
Transliteration: Khuthoo ma ataynakum biquwwatin.
7- Never mind of the great number of the negligent people as long as they do not adhere to the rulings of the religion.
8- Never submitting to the pressures of society and current situation.
9- Seeking the knowledge of the rulings of the religion of Allah The Almighty in all matters, especially, what is related to the protective jealousy and its limits.
10-Paying much attention to educating children the manners of protective jealousy, bashfulness and chastity since their tender ages.
11-Holding fast to the right of Al-Qawaamah (i.e. the role of being in charge or head of the household).
12-Giving up watching what can incur the Wrath and Anger of Allah The Almighty in the satellite channels.
May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his household and companions.
