{مَّنْ يُطِعِ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللّهَ}

النساء: 80

Transliteration: Man Yuţii Ar-Rasūla Faqad 'Aţāa Allāha

11- It ensures the answering and observing Al-Fajr prayer at time, because the person sleeping mostly misses the Fajr Prayer.

12- Observing Suhur repels bad morals resulted by hunger during a fasting day (anger).

Issues on Intentions

Shaykh Al Islam Ibn Taymiah said: Intention Originates from the Heart, not uttered by the tongue as been agreed among the scholars of Islam in all acts of worship. None of the scholars claimed that it is compulsory to utter intention in purity, prayer, fasting, and Hajj.

If an individual recalls an intention for a pious act but hindered due to some foreign reason, he is rewarded for the intention of doing it, but prevented without him interfering as a reason. But the act he will be rewarded for if it was a habit, not once. (Explaination of Ryadh Asalihyn By Ibn Uthaymeen 1/26).

Omar Ibn Al-Khattab said: O people make sure to recall your intentions for your deeds, whoever does that will be rewarded for the deed and the intention he recalled to carry out.

Is it compulsory to recall an intention for fasting every night in Ramadan?

One intention in the first night is sufficient for the whole month. This is the opinion of Imam Ahmad, Malik and Ibn Rahaway.

What is the ruling if someone wakes up during the day not knowing that Ramadan has arrived and he ate during the day?

He who becomes aware of the crescent of Ramadan during the day whether he ate or not, must recall the intention of fasting and leaves any fast breaking causes and continues fasting without the need to remake his day after Ramadan. Proved by a hadith narrated by Salama Ibn Al-Aqwa’ said that Allah's Messenger said to a man from the tribe of Al-Aslam, "Proclaim among your people (or the people) on the day of 'Ashura' (tenth of Muharram), 'Whosoever has eaten anything should fast for the rest of the day; and whoever has not eaten anything, should complete his fast.'" [Reported by Al-Bukhari]

Shaykh Al Islam Ibn Taymiah said: If the crescent had been proved during the day of Ramadan before eating or after, continue fasting and refrain from eating without the need to make up this day after Ramadan.

Is it allowed to recall an intention for supererogatory fasting during the day?

i) If he wakes up not intending to eat nor fast, then it is permissible to recall an intention and begin fasting. It is narrated that Ibn Abbas may Allah be pleased with him that he would be awake until noon then says, “By Allah I woke up not intending to fast neither did I eat nor drink, I will fast this day. [Narrated by Al-Tahawy with an authentic chain of transmission]
Narrated By Ibn Mas’ud May Allah be pleased with him saying: If one of you woke up and wanted to fast he has two options(either fast or carry out a normal day). [Narrated by Al-Tahawy with an authentic chain of transmission] It is the opininon of Al-Shafe’I, Ahmad in all times and Abu Hanifa but before noon.

ii) Who was thinking of fasting during the day then he is between two choices either fasting or continue a normal day, this is stipulated by not talking until the end of the Day. [Reported By Ibn Aby Sahyba with an authentic chain of transmission]
