Characteristics of a Pious Husband

On the Day of Judgment: Allah will ask men if they fulfilled their obligations towards their families. They who fear Allah will do their best to direct the way his wife and children live by educating himself and his family to living according to the Sunnah of the Prophet (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) and the Holy Qur’an, the final word of Allah.
The Prophet (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “The best of you is the best one to his family” [Authenticated by Al-Albani].
«خيركم خيركم لأهله» صححه الألباني
“One should not hate his believer wife. If he dislikes some of her attitudes, he would (surely) like others (attitudes)” [Reported by Muslim].
«لا يفرك مؤمن مؤمنة. إن كره منها خلقا رضي منها آخر. أو قال: غيره» رواه مسلم
“A women is created from a rib, and the most curved portion of the rib is its upper portion, so, if you should try to straighten it, it will break, but if you leave it as it is, it will remain crooked” [Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
«فإن المرأة خلقت من ضلع، وإن أعوج شيء في الضلع أعلاه، فإن ذهبت تقيمه كسرته، وإن تركته لم يزل أعوج» رواه البخاري ومسلم
“Fast for few days and then give it up for few days, offer prayers and also sleep at night, as your body has a right on you, and your eye has a right on you, and your wife has a right on you, and your guest has a right on you” [Al-Bukhari].
«صم وأفطر، وقم ونم، فإن لجسدك عليك حقا، وإن لعينك عليك حقا، وإن لزوجك عليك حقا، وإن لزورك عليك حقا » رواه البخاري ومسلم
“Fear Allah in (treating) women” [Reported by Muslim].
«فاتقوا الله في النساء...» رواه مسلم
“Be advised to treat women righteously” [Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
«استوصوا بالنساء خيرا» رواه البخاري ومسلم
{And live with them honourably. If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and Allah brings through it a great deal of good.} [An-Nisaa’ 4:19].
{وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ۚ فَإِن كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰ أَن تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَيَجْعَلَ اللَّـهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا} النساء: 19
Transliteration: waAAashiroohunna bialmaAAroofi fain karihtumoohunna faAAasa an takrahoo shayan wayajAAala Allahu feehi khayran katheeran
The Prophet (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “A Dinar (a currency) that you spend on your family, a Dinar that you spend on a poor person and a Dinar that you spend in the sake of Allah. The one that carries the most reward is the one that you spend on your family” [Reported by Muslim].
«دينار أنفقته في سبيل الله. ودينار أنفقته في رقبة. ودينار تصدقت به على مسكين. ودينار أنفقته على أهلك. أعظمها أجرا للذي أنفقته على أهلك» رواه مسلم
The Prophet (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said to Saaid ibn Abi Waqqas, “And (know that) whatever you spend in Allah's Cause, you will get reward for it, even for the morsel of food which you put in your wife's mouth” [Reported by Bukhari and Muslim].
«لست تنفق نفقة تبتغي بها وجه الله إلا أجرت بها، حتى اللقمة تجعلها في في امرأتك» رواه البخاري ومسلم
