Can a Muslim allow a non-Muslim guest to observe the rituals of kufr in his home?

Since 2014-12-19
Question:

If a non-Muslim visitor comes and lives in your home for a few days is it permissible that the Muslim host allows him/her to perform their prayers and rituals according to their own religion? Will the Muslim host be considered a sinner in this case as some of the prayers and rituals of other religions may not conform to Islamic beliefs?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah.

Can a Muslim allow a non-Muslim guest to observe the rituals of kufr in his home?

We put this question to Shaykh Muhammad Saalih al-'Uthaymeen, who answered as follows:

Praise be to Allah. It is not permissible for you to willingly consent to that, because this is kufr and the person has no religion, as Allah says:

{وَمَن يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمِ دِينًۭا فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ}

'Translation' {And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him} [Aal ‘Imraan from the verse:85].

{وَقَدْ نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ أَنْ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يُكْفَرُ بِهَا وَيُسْتَهْزَأُ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْعُدُوا۟ مَعَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُوا۟ فِى حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِۦٓ}

'Translation' {And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Qur'aan) that when you hear the Verses of Allah being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that} [al-Nisa' from the verse:140].

Also, this visitor is humiliating you by doing this, because he knows that you do not like it, so you should not let him humiliate you.

And Allah knows best.
Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid.
