Renew your faith

Since 2012-11-28

My Muslim brother, here are some important means that renew your faith, augment and increase it.

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

My Muslim brother, here are some important means that renew your faith, augment and increase it.

1. Observe the five prayers: they are the greatest expiations of sins and the purifiers of the soul of dirt and impurities. Allah, Glorified and Exalted, has said, {Verily, As-Salât (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahshâ’ (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse) and Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed) and the remembering (praising) of (you by) Allâh (in front of the angels) is greater indeed [than your remembering (praising) of Allâh in prayers.} [Surat Al-’Ankabût 29:45]

The Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, has said, “If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day would there remains any dirt on him?” They said, “Not a trace of dirt would be left.” The Prophet added, “That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah blots out (annuls) evil deeds.” [Reported by Muslim]

2. Preserve the remembrances of Allah: The remembrances of Allah are the life of the hearts. The Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, has shown this in the Hadith, “The resemblance between the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not remember his Lord is like the resemblance between the living and the dead.” [Reported by Al-Bukhari]

He has also said, “Shall I tell you about the best of your deeds, the most pure in the Sight of your Lord, about the one that is of the highest order and is far better for you than spending gold and silver, even better for you than meeting your enemies in the battlefield where you strike at their necks and they at yours?” They replied, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah!” He said, “The Remembrances of Allah, Glorified and Exalted.” [Authenticated by Al-Albani]

3. Persist in your supplication to Allah: true guidance is the guidance of Allah. Our hearts are between His Fingers where He controls them as He wills; He sets that one firm and forsakes the other one. Allah almighty has said in the divine Hadith, “O My slaves, all of you are astray except those whom I have guided, so seek guidance from Me and I shall guide you.” [Reported by Muslim]

Moreover, the believer can never dispense with asking guidance from Allah especially in the last third of the night at the beginning of his night prayer. The Prophet, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, has said, “There is an hour during the night in which no Muslim happens to be asking Allah any good from this life or the hereafter, but that He will give it to him, and this (occurs) every night”. [Reported by Muslim]

4. Preserve praying the optional prayers: such as dhuha (forenoon) prayer, confirmed Sunnah prayers, and the optional prayers. Along with the obligatory prayers, the optional prayers cause the Love of Allah. Allah Almighty has said in the divine Hadith, “I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawâfil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him. If I love him, so I will become his sense of hearing with which he hears, his sense of sight with which he sees, his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks. Moreover, if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My protection (Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give him My Refuge).” [Reported by al-Bukhari]

5. Be pious to Allah so that He protects you: Avoid doing what Allah prohibits, observe His commands and do not contradict your enjoined duties, do not violate His creation; do not be unjust to any one concerning his wealth, his honor, his blood or his soul. If you preserved the Rights of Allah in all the previous, you will be among the pious.

6. Preserve repentance and striving with your soul: Allah Almighty has said, {And all of you beg Allâh to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.} [Surat An-Nûr 24:31]

Transliteration: watooboo ila Allahi jameeAAan ayyuha almuminoona laAAallakum tuflihoona
