My Islamic will

Since 2012-11-17

The Prophet prayers and peace of Allah be upon him said: "It's not of a Muslim's right on something he owns to include in a will, to stay two nights except his will is written" [Reported by Al-Bukhari].

The Prophet prayers and peace of Allah be upon him said: “It’s not of a Muslim’s right on something he owns to include in a will, to stay two nights except his will is written” [Reported by Al-Bukhari].

«ما حق امرئ مسلم، له شيء يوصي فيه، يبيت ليلتين إلا ووصيته مكتوبة عنده» رواه البخاري

Allah Almighty said: {Everyone shall taste death} [Surat Al-‘Imran 3:185]

{كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ} آل عمران: 185

Transliteration: Kullu nafsin thaiqatu almawti

O Muslims: Sudden death has become a rising phenomenon in our times either by heart attacks, brain stroke, chest angina, increase or decrease in blood pressure, diabetes etc… which is among the signs of the hour (Judgment day) that the prophet, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, informed us of, where he said: “Among the signs of the hour is the emergence of sudden death” [Deemed Good by Al-Albani].

«من اقتراب الساعة...وأن يظهر موت الفجأة»حسنه الألباني

Thus, we are supposed to take heed, O beloved ones, with the Sunnah of the Prophet, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, and no one sleeps unless he “Got his will next to his head”.

Writing a will doesn’t shorten your destiny…Also not writing it doesn’t postpone your destiny.

Firstly: What Is an Islamic will?

A will is:

What a man or a woman includes in a will:

1- Paying a debt.
2- Giving charity.
3- Specifying who will be responsible of his Ghusl (washing) before burial.
4- Or who is going to pray on him etc…..

Note: It is not conditional for who is making a will to own something from what he is going to give as charity from, there are other things that could constitute a form of a will like supplication, asking forgiveness for him, forgiving him and other things.

Secondly: what is the importance of a will?

Importance of a will:

The Prophet prayers and peace of Allah be upon him said: “It’s not of a Muslim’s right on something he owns to include in a will, to stay two nights except his will is written. Abdullah Ibn Omar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: ‘Never a night passed from the moment I heard this from the Messenger, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, except my will is with me.’” [Reported by Muslim]

«ما حق امرئ مسلم له شيء يوصي فيه. يبيت ثلاث ليال إلا ووصيته عنده مكتوبة. قال عبدالله بن عمر: ما مرت علي ليلة منذ سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ذلك، إلا وعندي وصيتي» رواه مسلم

Benefit: when the Prophet, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, died Abdullah Ibn Omar, May Allah be pleased with them, was only 21 years old…!!

Young men and ladies that think that a will isn’t written until reaching senility should take care and hasten to write down their will.

Thirdly: What is obligatory upon a person towards his will?

A person must avoid injustice while writing his will, some forms of injustice:

1- Specifying one of the heirs with money or property.

2- Making an endowment on a property for the benefit of one of the heirs and his breed.

3- Making a will with more than a third.

4- Stating to screen one of the heirs from inheriting…etc.

Note: The will that contradicts the rules of Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) is not carried out according to Islam. Whoever made it will not gain anything from it except sin and loss…. so be careful.

Fourthly: Some commendable acts in a will:

It is recommended to hasten in a will and to witness it.

Note: It is allowed to increase or decrease in the will, or even change in it as a whole in any time a person wishes to.

Lastly: A will must be opened immediately after death -If there is a chance -, maybe the deceased stated in the will matters that should be carried out before the burial, thus some of the will is missed due to postponing.

The is My Islamic Will
