In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

All praise is due to Allah alone. And prayers and peace of Allah be upon the last Prophet.

This is a message for every schoolmistress regardless of her status, place and time; it is for every schoolmistress who took the honor of bearing this noble mission and great trust. To her I say:

O schoolmistress,

Every father and mother has the right to be proud of you as schoolmistress to his/her children. All tongues keen of invoking to you, maker of mothers; everybody feels your favor after Allah the Exalted and Glorious. You are the one who sits long hours daily with their daughters for educating and guiding them; you are the one who plants ethics and morals in the selves of Muslims’ daughters; you are the one who bore the trust of spreading knowledge, education and refinement between the Muslims’ daughters; you are loving mother for every girl; you are kind the sister for every young woman; therefore, for you, schoolmistress, we present every respect, honor, thank and gratitude.

O governess of generations, do not be surprised because of this introduction. It is not just words of praise or phrases of compliment and flattering; rather, by Allah, it is the truth as long as you observe this great role and carry out the trust in the way that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, likes. All come to you every morning with what is most valuable to them, their children, and do not repose until they pass the gate of the school. They deliver to you empty hearts to fill it with the ink of education and guidance. Thereupon, should not we observe your favor and be proud of you!

Honor is only to the people of knowledge
As they guide whoever asks guidance
And value everyone with what he is best at
And the Ignorant to the people of knowledge are enemies
Grasp knowledge that will revive you eternally
Where people are dead and people of knowledge are alive

O schoolmistress,

Do you bear this responsibility sincerely and honestly before Allah then before people?

O schoolmistress,

Had you ever wondered about the number of schoolgirls who get out every morning to sit between your hands? Had you ever wondered about the number of hours that hundreds of thousands schoolgirls spend with you? Actually, they are fantastic numbers and strange figures. Therefore, you have great responsibilities, duties, trusts need guidance and reminding, rather they need holding seminars and conferences and writing articles; but why?

To harvest ripe fruits and wonderful gains and conscious minds…

O schoolmistress, the successful schoolmistress is the one who wants to know her faults and shortcomings, seeking to develop herself in matters of manners and dealings, knowledge and education. Actually, knowing the faults and shortcomings and refining the self and developing it, cannot be gained without modesty, seeking advice and caring for the ethics; because teaching is art, skill, morals and behaviors.

O schoolmistress, “He who called (people) to righteousness, there would be reward (assured) for him like the rewards of those who adhered to it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect.” [Reported by Muslim],

«من دعا إلى هدى كان له من الأجر مثل أجور من تبعه لا ينقص ذلك من أجورهم شيئا» رواه مسلم

and “Indeed, Allah, His angels and the inhabitants of heaven and earth, even the ant in its hole and the whale, pray upon whoever teaches people what is good.”  [Authenticated by Al-Albani, Sahih At-Tirmidhi]

«إن الله وملائكته وأهل السماوات والأرض حتى النملة في جحرها، وحتى الحوت ليصلون على معلم الناس الخير» صححه الألباني،صحيح الترمذي

An-Nawawy (may Allah mercy him) said: “The teacher must seek, because of his teaching, the Countenance of Allah and not to make it a reason for gaining worldly matters. Therefore; a teacher should put in his mind that teaching is the most necessary act of worship, to urge himself for safety from its distresses lest missing the great reward.”

Therefore, education is an act of worship you gain reward for it; there is great reward and much good for it as long as the intention is right and the purpose is the Countenance of Allah. The sincere intention imposes upon you (schoolmistress) internal watch, skillfulness, carrying out the trust and fearing Allah not people; this is in addition to feeling the sweetness of fatigue and the value of the hours that you spend in the school. These are some of the fruits of sincerity, and what is with Allah is better and will remain forever.

Trust and responsibility

Your look should be far and your ambition should be further, because you are one of the builders of life. Yes, you make the present by bringing up a generation of Muslims’ daughters that had been brought up on fearing Allah and enlightened by the guidance of the Qur’an and irrigated from the spring of the Prophetic Sunnah … You make the future, because the schoolgirls of today are the mothers and schoolmistresses of the future.

None could bear teaching and education’s responsibilities except the serious, honest and sincere women; therefore, there should be a follow up and taking care of this trust, because it is one of the characteristics of the believer women.

O schoolmistress, indeed teaching is a great trust and responsibility you will be asked about it and you will be reckoned for everything, whether it is major or minor, and you will face the consequences if good or evil.

Education and guidance

Education and guidance are some of the things that schoolgirls need today most because of the increase of afflictions and means of corruption. We are in a time fathers and mothers pay less attention to this role, or even worse, neglect it totally; therefore, your role (ardent schoolmistress) comes. It is time for your role; yes you, the reformer, advisor, owner of tender heart and soft touches and well-mannered behavior and experience in the behaviors and manners of schoolgirls. This schoolmistress, that devoted herself, is an honest schoolmistress, wise governess and kind mother motivated by her sincerity for Allah, guidance to her schoolgirls, desire for reform and wanting the reward from Allah … “To have a single man guided by Allah because of you is better for you than possessing the nice red camels (the best of property for Arabs at the time).” [Agreed upon]

«لأن يهدي الله بك رجلا واحدا، خير لك من أن يكون لك حمر النعم» متفق عليه

The Muslim schoolmistress is well-mannered, kind in her conversation, modest in her speech, social, effective, influential and a person with a mission; she is a lighthouse, beacon and source of guidance. Furthermore, by Allah, she is a builder by her sayings, deeds, appearance and clothes.

Finally, my schoolmistress be pleased with these generations that are graduated under your hands. How many mothers you were the reason of reforming them and guiding them to what is good, then now they are good governesses to their children teaching them reform and good!

Furthermore, how many girls you were reason, after Allah, for saving them from the claws of ignorance and deceive by your guidance and advice! How many girls heed in invoking for you and praising you after you may have forgotten them; rather they will never forget your favor, nor will it be forgotten by your Lord, the Exalted and Glorious, Who says: {Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female.} [Surat Al-‘Imrân 3:195]

Transliteration: annee laodeeAAu AAamala AAamilin minkum minthakarin aw ontha

Finally, this is an urgent message and pieces of advice and whispers I ask Allah the Great to make them sincere for His Generous Face, and I ask Him to support you for doing each good deed and make your steps stable at the paths of good and reward you well.

And accept from me (my schoolmistress) all thanks and gratitude. And peace and mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.
