Amongst the virtues of the Messenger Muhammad, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him
1- Allah The Almighty says: {O Prophet (Muhammad, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him)! Verily, We have sent you as witness, and a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner, (45) And as one who invites to Allah [Islamic Monotheism, i.e. to worship none but Allah (Alone)] by His Leave, and as a lamp spreading light (through your instructions from the Quran and the Sunnah (the legal ways of the Prophet, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him). (46) And announce to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah and in His Messenger Muhammad, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) the glad tidings, that they will have from Allah a Great Bounty.} [Al-Ahzab 33:45-47]
{يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا (45) وَدَاعِيًا إِلَى اللَّهِ بِإِذْنِهِ وَسِرَاجًا مُنِيرًا (46) وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ فَضْلا كَبِيرًا}الأحزاب: 45-47
Transliteration: Ya ayyuha annabiyyu inna arsalnaka shahidan wa mubashshiran wa natheera. Wa da’iyan ila Allahi biithnihi wasirajan muneera. Wabashshiri almu’mineena bianna lahum mina Allahi fadlan kabeera.
2- Allah The Almighty says: {Muhammad (prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the last (end) of the Prophets. And Allah is Ever All-Aware of everything.} [Al-Ahzaab 33:40]
{مَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمًا} الأحزاب: 40
Transliteration: Ma kana muhammadun aba ahadin min rijalikum walakin rasoola Allahi wa khatama annabiyyeena wakana Allahu bikulli shayin ‘aleema.
3- Allah The Almighty says: {And We have sent you (O Muhammad, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) not but as a mercy for the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).} [Al-Anbiya 21:107]
{وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ} الأنبياء: 107
Transliteration: Wama arsalnaka illa rahmatan lil’alameen.
4- It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “Amongst the Prophets I will have the largest number of followers on the Day of Resurrection, and I would be the first one to knock at the gates of Paradise.” [Reported by Muslim (196)]
«أنا أكثر الأنبياء تبعًا يوم القيامة. وأنا أول من يقرع باب الجنّة» رواه مسلم 196
5- It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “I will be the first intercessor Paradise and no prophet amongst the prophets has been believed (by such a large number of people) as I have been believed. And verily, there is a prophet among the prophets who was believed by only one man from his people.” [Reported by Muslim (196)]
«أنا أول شفيعٌ في الجنّة لم يصدق نبيّ من الأنبياء ما صدقت. وإن من الأنبياء نبيًّا ما يصدقه من أمّته إلا رجلٌ واحدٌ» رواه مسلم 196
6- It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “I asked my Lord for three and He gave me two and refused to give me the third. I asked Him not to destroy my Ummah (nation) by a famine and He gave that to me. I asked Him not to destroy my Ummah by drowning and He gave that to me. And I asked Him not to make them taste the violence of one another, but He did not give that to me.” [Reported by Muslim (2890)]
«سألت ربي ثلاثًا، فأعطاني ثنتين ومنعني واحدة. سألت ربّي أن لا يهلك أمّتي بالسّنة فأعطانيها، وسألته أن لا يهلك أمّتي بالغرق فأعطانيها، وسألته أن لا يجعل بأسهم بينهم فمنعنيها» رواه مسلم 2890
and in another narration, the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “I asked Him not to make their enemies who is not amongst them to prevail above them and He gave me that.” [Reported by At-Tirmithi (2175) and Al-Albani deemed it Sahih (authentic)]
«وسألته أن لا يسلط عليهم عدوا من غيرهم فأعطانيها» رواه التّرمذي 2175 وصححه الألباني
7- It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “The eyes of the Prophet, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, were closed when he was asleep, but his heart was not asleep (not unconscious).” [Reported by Al-Bukhari (3570)]
«والنّبيّ -صلّى الله عليه وسلّم- نائمة عيناه ولا ينام قلبه» رواه البخاري 3570
8- It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “I will be the leader of the sons of Adam on the Day of Resurrection and the first for whom the grave will be opened and the first to intercede and the first whose intercession will be accepted.” [Reported by Muslim (2278)]
«أنا سيد ولد آدم يوم القيامة. وأول من ينشق عنه القبر. وأول شافع وأول مشفع» رواه مسلم 2278
9- It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “I have been favored above the other Prophets in six ways: I have been given the ability of the precise words with comprehensive meaning; I have been made victorious by fear, (by His frightening my enemies); war booty has been made permissible for me; the earth has been made pure and a Masjid [place of worship] for me; I have been sent to all of mankind; and I am the seal of the Prophets.” [Reported by Muslim (523)]
«فضلت على الأنبياء بستٍ: أعطيت جوامع الكلم، ونصرت بالرّعب، وأحلت لي الغنائم، وجعلت لي الأرض طهورًا ومسجدًا، وأرسلت إلى الخلق كافّةً، وختم بي النّبيون» رواه مسلم 523
10- It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “I was chosen from a succession of the best generations of the children of Adam, until the generation I was sent in.” [Reported by Bukhaari (3557)]
«بعثت من خير قرون ابن آدم، قرنا فقرنا، حتى كنت من القرن الّذي كنت فيه» أخرجه البخاري 3557
11- It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “I was written by Allah as the Last and Final of the Prophets, even when Adam was still clay. I will tell of the first good news announcing my advent: The (result of the) invocation to Allah made from my father Ibrahim, the glad tidings ‘Isa conveyed, and the dream that my mother saw, when she gave birth to me, she saw a light emanating from her that illuminated the palaces of Ash-Shaam (Levant).” [Al-Albani deemed it Sahih (authentic) (5691) in Takhreej Mishkaat Al-Masabeeh]
«إنّي عند الله مكتوب خاتم النبيين، وإن آدم لمنجدل في طينته، وسأخبركم بأول أمري: دعوة إبراهيم، وبشارة عيسى، ورؤيا أمي الّتي رأت -حين وضعتني- وقد خرج لها نورٌ أضاءت لها منه قصور الشّام» صححه الألباني 5691 في تخريج مشكاة المصابيح
