Six days of Shawwâl
The Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, has said, “He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six fasting days of Shawwal, it would be as if he fasted perpetually.” [Reported by Muslim, 1164]
«من صام رمضان ثمّ أتبعه ستًّا من شوّال كان كصيام الدّهر» رواه مسلم
O beloved: six days of Shawwâl; a great opportunity where the Muslim attains:
First: benefits in this worldly life, and second: weighty rewards in the Hereafter.
First: the benefits of fasting six days of Shawwâl in this worldly life:
In terms of the benefits in this worldly life, scientific research has shown that the Islamic method of fasting for just one day cleanses the body from the toxins and waste of ten full days.
Note: (for more on the benefits of fasting, see our flyer: the scientific miracles in the fasting of man.)
As the month of fasting is thirty days, it is thus cleanses the body of the waste and toxins of three hundred days, and here we can see (the Prophetic Miracles) that the Prophet, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, followed the fasting of Ramadan by fasting six days of Shawwâl, to complete the cleansing process throughout the year. That: 6 days (from Shawwâl) × 10 days cleansing = 60 clean days.
Thus, the total will be: 300 days (from Ramadan) + 60 days (from Shawwâl) = 360 clean days.
And thus the body remains strong and healthy. It will enjoy health and vitality throughout the year, Allah willing, Glorified and Exalted He is. Hence, there comes the greatness of the holy Prophet’s Hadith, which has already been ahead of modern science and preventive medicine hundreds of years ago. The Muslim cannot but look at it with dignity and glorification.
A remark:
It is scientifically proven that fasting one day generates enough white blood cells to protect the human being for ten days; since the lunar year is equal to 355 or 356 days, then we need 36 days to fast, so we need six days of Shawwâl for the full protection and immunity... Allah is great...!!!
Second: the benefits of fasting six days of Shawwâl in the Hereafter
In terms of the Hereafter, the Muslim stands on the threshold of a new act of obedience after the fasting of Ramadan has finished... The fasting of the month of Ramadan expiates ten months; as a good deed equals ten good deeds (in reward)... So he needs to fast six days of Shawwâl to expiate the whole year... that:
30 days (of Ramadan) × 10 = 300 good deeds.
6 days (of Shawwâl) × 10 = 60 good deeds.
Total: 300 good deeds (in Ramadan) + 60 good deeds (in Shawwâl) = 360 good deeds = fasting for a lifetime... Allah is great.
My beloved brother
Are not these exact calculations - which have been derived from this holy Hadith, which were made by the Prophet, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, without preparation or order, are they not proof of his prophecy, prayers and peace of Allah be upon him...???!!!
He is the illiterate prophet who does not know reading or calculating!!!
Verily, he is just as his Lord, Glorified and Exalted, has said about him, {Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. (3) It is only a Revelation revealed.} [Sûrat An-Najm 53:3-4]
{وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى (3) إِنْ هُوَ إِلا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى} النجم: 3-4
Transliteration: Wama yantiqu AAani alhawa (3) In huwa illawahyun yooha
We ask guidance from Allah Almighty, and that all Muslims continue in performing the acts of worship, He has the power for and is able to do that.
