Why do they weep and I do not in Ramadan?

One of the reasons that cause success in our lives and religion is that one should be honest to himself all along, and not to seek excuses for himself so that he is not surprised by death, then he regrets when regret is in vain.

Brothers and sisters: The virtue of weeping out of fear from Allah is great, as the Prophet, peace upon Him, said: “Seven (kinds of people) will be shaded by Allah on the Day of Resurrection”, of whom He mentioned: “A person who remembers Allah and his eyes are flooded with tears” [Narrated Al Bukhari and Muslim]

‹‹سبعة يظلهم الله تعالى في ظله يوم لا ظل إلا ظله... ورجل ذكر الله خاليا ففاضت عيناه››
رواه البخارى ومسلم

Brothers and sisters: There is a question wandering in all of the negligent people’s minds - and aren’t we all - may Allah forgive us. We observe the hearts of a lot of people soften and they weep when they hear the verses of Qur’an recited, or the Messenger’s, peace upon Him, hadiths narrated, or hear the news regarding our righteous ancestors…
Why do they weep while I do not?

I hardly try to be humble and weep, but I cannot!!

Why do people near me, in front of me and behind me weep?

The reason for this, brothers and sisters, is crystal clear in the Exalted’s saying: “No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.” [Al-Mutaffifin 83:14]

{كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ}
المطففين: 14

Transliteration: Kallā Bal Rāna Alá Qulūbihim Mā Kānū Yaksibūna

From this verse we conclude that their inability to weep is because of their sins which blinded their hearts from good deeds and increased their inadvertence.
And this is the real reason for the scarcity of weeping out of fear of Allah.

Liven up their nights worshipping their Lord *** by reciting, imploring and asking for His forgiveness
Their eyes are overflowed with their tears *** like the heavy rain poring continuously

Why do they weep???

What makes those people not only to be humble and weep, but also enjoy doing this, and we do not??

The reason is that they walked away from doing evil deeds while having the hereafter life their aim, hence their hearts became humble and their eyes wept.

Therefore, when we lose these issues our hearts become dishonest and our eyes dry.

Oh brother and sister...

Be sure that fearing Allah all Mighty which is followed by weeping only exists and is prolonged by the following factors:

1- Repent and ask Allah for forgiveness with our hearts and tongues, as one strives to Allah crammed with regret and fear, while his heart is filled with shyness from his Glorious Patience Lord who has been tolerant with him, blessed him and helped him repent…

How patience was Allah with me when He waited *** and concealed my sins which I kept on doing
Hours of my days passed without remorse *** nor weeping, nor fear, nor sadness
How many recorded slips were done *** and how much sorrows remained burning my heart
Let me keep weeping continuously *** as maybe one of those tears would set me free from my sins

To follow this path one needs to be honest with himself while judging his deeds.

2- Deserting sins and keeping away from them whether they are small or major, obvious or obscure, because sins are the incurable disease that prevents the heart from being close to Allah and they are unjust to the heart and consequently bring grief to it.

3- Endearment to Allah by worshipping Him with fasting, praying, Hajj, paying charity, praise and in general doing all good deeds.

4- Remembering the hereafter life: What really surprises me, dear brother and sister, is that we are certain that our current lives will end and that the real future is in our hereafter life, but we just stand still doing nothing to profit from this permanent future.

The Exalted says: “Whoever should desire the immediate - We hasten for him from it what We will to whom We intend. Then We have made for him Hell, which he will [enter to] burn, censured and banished. (18) But whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the effort due to it while he is a believer - it is those whose effort is ever appreciated [by Allah].” [Al-Isra’ 17:18-19]

{ن كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلْنَا لَهُ فِيهَا مَا نَشَاءُ لِمَن نُّرِيدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَاهَا مَذْمُومًا مَّدْحُورًا ﴿١٨﴾ وَمَنْ أَرَادَ الْآخِرَةَ وَسَعَىٰ لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولَـٰئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُم مَّشْكُورًا}
الإسراء: 18-19

Transliteration: Man Kāna Yurīdu Al-Ājilata Ajjalnā Lahu Fīhā Mā Nashā'u Liman Nurīdu Thumma Jaalnā Lahu Jahannama Yaşlāhā Madhmūmāan Madĥūrāan (18) Wa Man 'Arāda Al-'Ākhirata Wa Saá Lahā Sayahā Wa Huwa Mu'uminun Fa'ūlā'ika Kāna Sayuhum Mashkūrāan

5- Knowing Allah the Exalted names, descriptions and legislations, as the Exalted says: " Only those fear Allah, from among His servants, who have knowledge. " [Fatir 35:28]

{إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّـهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ ۗ}
فاطر: 28

Transliteration: 'Innamā Yakhshá Allāha Min Ibādihi Al-Ulamā'u

It also said: Whoever knows Allah best is the most fearful of Him.

6- I also recommend that you read more about righteous people and to have them as your guidance.

Brothers and sisters… Ramadan, the month of worships and blessings, is a great opportunity for any slave who wants to get closer to his Lord, where satins are chained and doors of paradise are opened and obedience to Allah is increased. So revert to your Lord, come close to Him, demolish the chains of wrongdoings and the walls of sins, only then, your eyes will weep and your hearts will be humble.
